A complete UX/UI redesign and WordPress rebuild for a local non-profit dedicated to celebrating diversity, hosting events, and fostering community support.

The Mission

The organizers behind Ridgefield Pride reached out with a clear goal: transform their existing online presence into an inviting, high-energy digital hub. They needed a space where community members could effortlessly find local support, discover upcoming events, and instantly feel welcomed.

Understanding the Needs (UX & Discovery)

To start the project, I evaluated the original website and spent time chatting directly with community leadership to understand their pain points and vision.

Key Objectives Identified:

  • Boost Accessibility & Usability: Make event information and community resources simple to find in just a few clicks.
  • Modernize Infrastructure: Transition to a reliable hosting environment equipped with the right tools to scale.
  • Empower the Team: Ensure non-technical volunteers can easily maintain and update content without breaking the layout.

Strategy & Structural Redesign

Working side by side with organizational leaders, we re-engineered the site’s architecture from the ground up.

  • Sitemap Overhaul: Streamlined the navigation menu to prioritize core user paths: Events, Resources, Get Involved, and About Us.
  • Tech Stack Optimization: Migrated the site to WordPress for maximum flexibility, pairing it with a robust, custom-styled calendar plugin to highlight ongoing community gatherings.

UI Design & Visual Identity

The new visual design radiates warmth, positivity, and belonging.

  • Vibrant & Welcoming: Bright colors, generous whitespace, and energetic typography mirror the joyous spirit of the organization.
  • Inclusive Imagery: Strategic photo placement showcases real community interactions, ensuring every visitor feels represented.
  • Component Templates: Custom UI templates were designed so volunteer staff can publish new blog posts, events, and announcements while staying perfectly on-brand.
