My painting was selected for the New Haven Paint and Clay Annual Juried Show 2011
From its founding in 1900, the New Haven Paint & Clay Club has sponsored two exhibits each year, with only a few exceptions. Since the 1960s, the Active Members Exhibit, held in September, is open to all of the Club’s Active Members for a small fee. These artists have already been in two different spring juried shows in order to qualify for active membership. This is a non-juried show, and the Club gives $100 Merit Awards to artists who are selected by a museum curator or artist, someone not associated with the Club, who is asked to make this selection.
In March, the Annual Juried Art Exhibition is a big undertaking by the Club. Any artist living in New England or New York can submit one or two works to this show for a fee. Usually the Club receives nearly 500 entries to this show. A museum curator or artist not associated with the Club is asked to narrow these entries to only 100-110 pieces. That same juror is asked to select works for the over $4000 cash awards which the Club and community organizations offer for this show.
